Chaos

Last week was spring break. I was really hoping to get to some creative projects that I have simmering in the back of my mind, but work around the house came first. I got us caught up on laundry and dishes and mowing and mopping and cleaned some windows. I rearranged the basement and painted a wall. My creative energies were invested in the house. You can see some of our work over on Barkdust.

But I didn't get any sewing or painting or otherwise crafty projects done. Mostly I was just scared of the mess that our office/studio had become. I think I have a "set point" for chaos. A certain amount of disorder and mess is necessary for me to get any work done, but once it goes past a certain point I can't handle the chaos. Just walking into the office was making me hyperventilate and feel completely overwhelmed.

It got so bad that I had to call in the reinforcements (Stacey). She came over one afternoon and helped me think through how to rearrange the space so it works better. I really need some better storage solutions. I'm looking for some "cubes" or open shelving with baskets or bins of some kind. I looked at Target and Storables and Lowes and I'm not happy with the options I've found so far. Anybody have suggestions?

Try IKEA.

I usually just try to make do with what I have, so in that way I'm different and also not very helpful. :)

I looked around town, and I really do think that IKEA is my best option. Now I have to decide whether I should drive up to Tacoma some weekend or just wait until the IKEA here in town opens up this summer....

(Yay! our very own IKEA!)
