What a great idea and pattern! I've already tried one and am getting ideas for some more. I had some trouble with sewing the tail shut after I stuffed it.
Being a bird watcher, I can really CHIRP about the lovely mobile.
For machine quilting without puckers; Place quilt in a large embroidery hoop with top side of quilt on the bottom of the hoop. Remove pressure foot from machine, turn hoop upside down and grasp the hoop edges with hands and guide it free style under the needle. You might need to lower the feed dogs, also. JOY- E.

Yes! I love it! I'm working on one to hang over my couch. I don't know if it will work, though!
