Inspiration: Heath Ceramics

The first time I held a piece of Heath Ceramics in my hands, on a trip to Seattle at least 5 years ago, I fell in love. It epitomizes my favorite things: modern, classic, organic, hand-crafted. The Heath Kilns have been in operation in Sausalito California since the 50s with many of the processes unchanged. The pottery is sturdy without being clunky. It's user-friendly--dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.

The glazes are lovely natural browns and creams with a few surprise blues and greens and reds and oranges thrown in for fun. I like to think they reflect the aesthetic that we're slowly developing in our home. Simple, organic style with a few pops of color.

Although I've loved Heath, I didn't own any until Christmas this year when the Wise and Bearded One gave me a bud vase and three lovely dishes from the Coupe line. One for him, one for me, one for the Sprout. I think it was my favorite gift this year.

We visited their shop in Sausalito on a trip to San Francisco about a year and a half ago. I LOVE their wall tiles.
