Go Shopping?

"Personally, I’ve never done Black Friday. I could wear that like a badge of honor, but really, it comes down to the fact that I don’t like waking up early for anything. The early bird may get the worm, but for me, I’ll sleep in and eat that bird’s eggs with a side of toast."

Snicker. That's so me! I didn't write it though. I'm quoting from a great entry over on the Advent Conspiracy blog titled, "Want to REALLY do Advent Conspiracy? Go Shopping".

While I don't do the Black Friday madness, I DO do the Handmade Crazy madness in my head this time of year. The madness where I think of 800 different projects I would like to make for people for Christmas and then I realize there are 25 days until Christmas and 800 divided by 25 is....32 projects per day??? My mental math is a little rough but the answer equals: impossible!

So I have to take a deep breath and remind myself to:

--enjoy this season of my life with a small child
--enjoy this season of the year by spending time with friends and family (Skype, anyone?)
--make a few small gifts that are within my time budget
--buy a few gifts that are within my monetary budget
--spend less. give more. love all. worship fully.
--inhale. exhale. inhale. exhale. slowly now.

I know I'm not the only one needing to do this. Am I?

I need constant reminder to do all of those things! I'm glad to know I am not alone!

Oh yeah... funny quote.

I hate shopping and malls. And yet this time of year I find myself braving them even though they are something I hate. I have only gone twice this year though... and thank goodness. It doesn't have anything to do with relgion for me... just pure hatred of tons of people in small spaces.

Handmade holiday, here we come! (If you do binders at all, put all your amazing ideas into a binder, then if you don't get to them this year, they will be fresh and ready fro you next year.)

Love Val

How funny that I thought the same way about all those handmade gifts I could make. I really really wanted to make them and I know they would have been awesome, but alas well, you know. They were like sugar plums dancing in my head! Maybe next year! Have a great 2010! Pam in Chico
