Hi all. The Gee's Bend Quilt Kits (there are four) and Gee's Bend Solid Fabrics (there are 19 colors) will be in stores around the world in November 2009. For a preview visit the manufacturers website at www.baumtextile.com. The Quilt Kits are based on the designs of Mary Lee Bendolph, Mary L. Bennett, Qunnie Pettway and Rita Mae Pettway. For more information the quilters website is www.quiltsofgeesbend.com. Happy quilting!
Hello! I met the Gee's Bend ladies at Sisters Oregon last July. I have some wonderful memories of them. They sing beautifully and the quilts in person were amazing. I had seen the show at the DeYoung Museum in Sf and that was great too. Looks like we get to make a quilt quite easily by the looks of the kits. Hope they make a bundle on the proceeds! Happy Holidays! Pam in Chico
I bought the Lay Gal quilt kit. Have had so much fun with it. However, the cutting instructions were given wrong. I didn't find this out until I went looking for some backing fabric. I just made some changes and there was sufficent fabric to do this. I love the colors. The picture does not do this quilt justice. It has gone together really quickly too. Would love to make some of the others now.
