Current Obsession: Giada de Laurentiis Everyday Italian--I'm cooking my way through part of her cookbook this summer
Any recommendations for beverages?

Okay, so this chica is pretty dang hot for a cook. I'll admit to being more trusting of Italian cooks who look like this: http://www.lidiasitaly.com/index2.htm#Home, but judging from your update the meal was a success. On a scale of one to ten, how strongly do you recommend the cookbook?

I would give this cookbook a 7.5. I really like that there are full-color photographs for almost every recipe. Of course, that's why I like Giada too, because she is gorgeous and her show and food are beautifully filmed. The lighting is always impeccible. The recipes are pretty straight-forward and the directions are easy to follow.
The down side of this cookbook would be....heavy reliance on cream which makes many of the dishes not exactly healthful and there are a few recipes I will probably never cook (veal, hellooo! eating baby calves who have been tortured is not ok with me even if they're yummy).
