One of my goals this summer was to work on my photography skills. I didn't find a class that worked with my schedule but I did do some reading and some trying-to-listen-to-my-husband-explain-technical-mumbo-jumbo. I've got a long way to go to learn how to use my camera to its full advantage, but here are some photos I took playing with my
50 mm lens and aperture priority settings. I have only the slightest understanding of what I'm doing, but it's a baby step in the right direction.
These were taken before the string of hot days that fried all living things to a crisp.

Wow, Deb, those pictures are beautiful! That first one is my favorite. You can almost touch that red flower!
Very nice, Deb! Photos are incredible. I've been toying with the idea of getting a 50mm lens for my Nikon. I really want it before winter sets in and it gets dark before I'm home from work. Photographing things inside in the dark isn't easy. A 50mm would greatly help with that.
Keep up the good work!
I love the ladybug one. Ladybugs are some of my very favorite critters... and on that queen annes lace... beautiful!
Val
gorgeous! that first one almost looks like CGI -- it's so crisp!
Nice!
Those are beautiful!
Beautiful shots! Gotta love that Nikon 50 mm! I hope you're having a great time with your family this week.
They are all great, but the ladybug picture is the winner. Great picture.

Thanks for all the kind comments, folks! Aperture priority is my new best friend :) I love the crispness in the front and the blurry backgrounds.
