More Owl Fabric
Miss A. , the daughter of the lovely and talented Rachel Austin, had her first birthday party last month. I didn't have much time at my disposal but I knew I wanted a handmade gift for this special little girlie (and the Sprout's first party invitation, no less). So here's a quickie birthday gift--the Lazy Day's skirt in my favorite owl fabric with another little owl zigzagged onto a gently-used shirt.
My husband grimaced when he realized I'd repurposed a garage sale purchase as a birthday gift. Knowing Rachel's appreciation of thrift and craft, I feel pretty safe. What do you think? Is it tacky to give a recycled gift?

I do love that owl fabric!
With an outfit as cute as that, I think it's a model gift!
What a darling ensemble, Deb. Definitely can't tell the purple shirt was gently used...and there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with hand-me-downs; especially at that age. Babies grow so fast, their clothes SHOULD be shared. Very good repurposing!
That outfit is adorable! Re-purposing is so hip, you're right in fashion. Nothing to be embarrassed about at all.
What a cute outfit! Your time and thoughtfulness shows.
In this case the re purposed shirt is 100% appropriate. That skirt is adorable and the shirt is a perfect match. That's for putting it out there that things don't always have to be new! I agree with Holli. Kids SHOULD share clothes and know early on that not everything has to be shiny and new to be thinking adorable!!
I think its such a cute little outfit. Any mom would love it.
You are such an inspiration with your sewing.

I love it - and miss Adelaide does too! I will get a picture to you of her in it - she has received many lovely complements on it already. Handmade and reused are my favorite gifts! : )
I love it too. SO much talent in that little head of yours.
